Yesterday was Sports Day.There was a one-hundred-metre race.
昨天是運動日。有一場百米比賽。
All the runners came here.Everybody was ready.

The girls ran fast.They wanted to win.
女生們跑得很快。她們都想獲勝。
No one wanted to be last.Who was first?
沒有人想落后，誰是第一名？
Amy was first.Lingling was second.Anne was third.

再見“一般過去時”
一般過去時表示過去某個時間發生的動作或存在的狀態。
含有be動詞的一般過去時
主語+be（was，were）+其他
My sister was a pupil last year.
去年我妹妹是一名小學生。
They were young then.
那時他們年輕。
含有實義動詞的一般過去時
主語+動詞過去式+其他
They cleaned the room last weekend.
上周末他們打掃房間。
He watched TV yesterday.
昨天他看電視了。

序數詞
英語數詞分為兩大類
基數詞和序數詞。
基數詞：指表示數目的數詞。
序數詞：表示順序的詞稱為序數詞。
first第一
second第二
third第三
fourth第四
fifth第五
sixth第六
seventh第七
eighth第八
ninth第九
tenth第十
1st-first 2nd-second 3rd-third 4th-fourth 5th-fifth
6th-sixth 7th-seventh 8th-eighth 9th-ninth 10th-tenth
從第一至第十，其中特殊序數詞形式：
one-first two-second
three-third five-fifth
eight-eighth nine-ninth
第一至第十的其他序數詞都是由其相對應的基數詞后面添加“th”構成。
例如：
four-fourth
six-sixth
seven-seventh
ten-tenth
注意：序數詞在使用時，通常前面要加定冠詞the。
序數詞的句法功能：
序數詞在句中可作主語、賓語、定語和表語。
The second is what I really need.
第二個是我真正需要的。（作主語）
He chose the second.
他挑選了第二個（作賓語）
We are to carry out the first plan.
我們將執行第一個計劃。（作定語）
She is the second in our class.
在我們班她是第二名。（作表語）
注：序數詞在使用時，通常前面要加定冠詞the。
